Advices and Queries are intended for use in Monthly Meetings as well as for personal devotions. Some meetings read one section each month... [They] are offered for the comfort and discomfort of Friends, with the hope that we may be more faithful and find deeper joy in God's service.
The previous edition of Pacific Yearly Meeting's Faith and Practice, published in 1985, listed 11 sets of Queries. It may be supposed that this left meetings in the habit of reading one set each month with nothing to do one month out of the year. There is no particular religious significance to the manner in which writers of disciplines organize these things.
